Mixtures of Special and Heavy Weapons

I included this part here because many times I mention mixing special and heavy weapons (in Tactical Squads especially), but offer no rules. Much like an astrological compatibility chart, I devised a compatibility chart below for all Space Marine special and heavy weapons. This is a guide to help you decide which weapons go well together in any squad. Use this wisely.

Weapons either perform well together or perform averagely together. If they are incompatible, they are not mentioned. Weapons always go well with others of its kind. Note that all these weapons are ones available to all Dark Angels squads, this does not include weapons from the armoury.

Flamer goes well with Flamer. It goes average with a Missile Launcher, Heavy Bolter, Plasma Pistol, Meltagun.

Meltagun goes well with Meltagun, Multimelta. It goes average with Flamer.

Plasma Pistol goes well with Plasma Pistol, Plasma Gun. It goes average with Flamer.

Plasma Gun goes well with Plasma Gun, Plasma Cannon, Heavy Bolter, Missile Launcher.

Heavy Bolter goes well with Heavy Bolter, Plasma Gun, Plasma Cannon. It goes average with Missile Launcher, Sniper Rifle.

Missile Launcher goes well with Missile Launcher, Plasma Gun, Lascannon. It goes average with Heavy Bolter and Plasma Cannon, Sniper Rifle.

Multimelta goes well with Multimelta, Meltagun.

Plasma Cannon goes well with Plasma Cannon, Plasma Gun, Heavy Bolter. It goes average with Missile Launcher.

Lascannon goes well with Lascannon, Missile Launcher.

Autocannon goes well with Autocannon, Heavy Bolter.

Sniper Rifle goes well with Sniper Rifle. It goes average with Heavy Bolter, Missile Launcher.

Assault Cannons go well with Assault Cannons. It goes average with Heavy Flamer, Cyclone Missile Launcher.

Heavy Flamer goes well with Heavy Flamer. It goes average with Assault Cannon.

Cyclone Missile Launcher goes well with Cyclone Missile Launcher. It goes average with Assault Cannon.

SUMMARY

Now, neophyte, you should understand how the Dark Angels work. You have learned the different methods we fight in, the different squads and weapons, the various methods to assemble a force of the Emperor's First and Finest.

It is unfortunate indeed that I could not have been more concise, but I have given you everything you need to think on your own feet. I'm sure I may have missed something, I am sure. However, everything here is gathered from my own vast experience. I have not dealt with Ravenwing and Deathwing only forces, but they shall be touched in later instalments.

How can I finish this Tactica? I have no more advice to impart, so I say good luck experimenting. If you have any specific questions, check out your local Games Workshop and ask fellow gamers and the staff for advice. Find online forums and ask your questions there too. Most forums are friendly places for gamers, especially the "Bolter And Chainsword" forum, a place for power armoured armies only. Lastly, if you have any queries about this tactica, or wish any further aid, e-mail me at smokingfrog@hotmail.com.

Remember, neophyte. Your previous life, achievements, titles, everything, does not matter now. All that matters now is the chapter.
