Sabre Heavy Assault Tank Heavy Support Section Company II, Shadow Guards Chapter, Epsilon Kraxus Sector In order to maintain the capacity for long range, direct fire, heavy support on the battlefield the Shadow Guards embraced the early pe-heresy design of the Sabre battletank. They combined the STC of the original Sabre with that of the newly discovered "Thragos" pattern rhino to produce this highly effective version. Armed with a battlecannon and a pintle mounted stormbolter and protected by the thick armour based on te vindicator design, the Sabre proved very valuable on Kraxus. It effectively is able to function as a mobile anti tank platform, a direct fire infantry support assault gun and as long range artillery. Flexibility that is valued extremely by a mechanised chapter like the Shadow Guards. |

In keeping with the combat doctrine of mechanised warfare the Shadow Guards Chapter maintains a significant number of heavy, barrage weapons as mobile fire support. Although lacking in tactical mobility on the battlefield, the indirect fire capability of the whirlwinds along with the devastating effects of a full broadside have made it extremely valuable asset for this chapter. The whirlwinds of the second company earned their distinction when thy completely wiped out a night flank attack by rebel forces on the south eastern approaches to Kraxus Prime Hive City. The whirlwinds of this chapter are essentially based on the new Thragos Pattern Rhino body with a completely armoured turret system for better protection and accuracy. |
The full armoured might of Strike Force Zadakiel advances at speed in a menacing Armoured Wedge Formation with the most protected Sabre leading the assault. The entire force is mobile and mechanized. The only absentees are the scout squad who would have deployed well ahead of the advance. |
