Golden Daemon:

The final part of the saga was to drop by the Golden Daemon entries. I hadn't managed to make it to any of the conferences or special events and the judging process had already occurrred. A number of entries had been removed by unsuccessful contenders, but a few struck a chord in me, so out came the camera. I faced a slight problem as I couldn't use my close up lens as the glass cainets prevented me from getting close enough, so it was left to my 210mm zoom lens to try and do its best.
Amongst the 40K vehicle section this Dark Eldar raiderstood out for its brilliant paintjob the colours marching and complementing each other perfectly, while the completely scratchbuilt 40K scale Imperial Mole walked away with one of the Daemons.
This beautifully converted and painted Ultramarines command squad seriously got my attention. The poses and the paintwork were excellent though I don't remember if it walked away with any Daemons. Note the dynamic poses, especially the standard bearer, who is holding the Ultramarines limited edition standard bearer from the Skullz competition.
Marine Captain Artemis made his appearance in  a number of guises. There was the Thunder Hammer wielding Blood Angel, the Assault Packed Dark Angel and the charging Black templar. To cap them all he alsomade it under guise of Sanguinius taking on the might of a winged champion of Khorne while another alter ego in the form of a Tech Marine decides to come through a Star Gate portal!
The over sized category revealed some Forgeworld goodness as well as a real life sized servo skull, completely scratch built.

However Abaddon was badly dwarfed by the completely scratch built, leiche-purple painted Grey Knight Terminator. This massive warrior towered all over the other models.
Finally it was over for me. I reminisced over the past couple of hours as I made my way back to the exit. The day had been complete with many issues, the highlight of it all being the meeting with Andy Chambers. I will be in the UK next year and would hope to make it to the Games Day in UK in 2002. Let us wait and see.
