"The Iron Cranes Chapter was founded between 800 and 1500 years ago. They claim heritage as successors of the Imperial Fists, though neither the Fists nor the Adeptus Terra have any record of their Founding. After extensive Geneseed testing their heritage was confirmed. Their Fortress Monastery is built on the planet Umil in the west of the Segmentum Tempestus. Their loyalty is beyond question, though their value to the Imperium is suspect as only the First Company is allowed offplanet." |
Chapter Master Master Lowan "The current Chapter Master is Master Lowan, who has served ably for the last 76 years. He embodies the Chapters contradictions, in that he is blind. Every leader in the Iron Cranes above the level of Veteran Sergeant ritually blinds himself in imitation of the Chapter's First Master, who exists only in their oral tradition. The chapter keeps no records older than 500 years." |
"Twins of Storm" "'The Twins of the Silent Storm' That is how the two most famous dreadnoughts in the chapter are referred to. They are always deployed together with the First Company. Individually they are known as 'Far Strike' and 'Broad Fist', and the Chapters legends maintain that they were entombed together by the First Master Himself. It is said that he witnessed their martial prowess while they defended their home village on Umil from a daemonic incursion. And though they were slain, the First Master was so moved by their courage and skill, he granted them the glory of entombment though they were not even Marines. |
