This is one of the large battle forces that was mobilised for action against the Charadon orks at the behest of the inquisition. Contrary to popular belief, SGM Azrael not only received the inquisitorial representative aboard the Tower of Angels, but he immediately despatched a sizeable force in the form of Battle Force Devastation to aid the inquisitor in his attempt to control the expansion of |
the ork empire. The high command of the battle force and ample evidence that, unlike the surreptitious rumours, the Dark Angels do function within the frame work of the imperial creed and work alongside the inquisition where ever necessary. The inquisitor lord is accompanied by a command squad of three land speeders as his escort. |
The main tactical strength of the battle force is made up of two identical tactical detachments. This consists of two tacticals squads, two devastator squads and two command squads one wih a captain and the other with a librarian. The detachment is completely mobile in their rhino transports and are supported by mobile whirlwind artillery, two of which are configured for anti-air activity. |
This s a multi-function detachment. Consisting of four scout squads and four dreadnoughts they are more often split up, with the scouts joining tactical detachments 1 or 2 and the dreadnoughts joining the assault detachment. |
The toughest ground troops in the battlefield, this detachment is made up of four squads of Deathwing terminators. Two command sections, with a Captain and a librarian each are equipped with jump packs. |
A flight of Thunderhawk Gunships provide airborne retribution to the enemies of the emperor. These are well armed and armoured transports and are useful mainly for attacking ground targets. |
Two Ravenwing Detachments are included in the force. One is a landspeeder detachment with eight land speeders. The second contains eight bike squads along with two command sections, one with a captain and the other with a librarian. |
Armour detachments 1, 2 and 3. The battle force contains three armour detachments to provide the heavy punch. The first armour detachment contains six Landraiders MK III and two Predators MK II tanks. Landraiders are one of the most powerful tanks in the game, but also one of the most expensive in points terms. Landraiders can also transport two infantry units each which can be useful. The other two of the armour detachments are similar to the first except that they are equipped with the old MK II Landraiders instead of MK III's. This is one of them. |
