SANCTUM OF HEROES
CHAPLAIN DURROS
Dark Angels Chapter
By Michael Hogan
Interrogator Chaplain Durros was recruited from a small planet named Gronau several parsecs away from Dregruk.  Growing up he often hoped the Sky Warriors would come so he could ascend to the heavens and become a Sky Warrior. His wish was fulfilled during the Waaagh of the Great Despot of Dregruk. Chaplain Gryael was sent to nearby worlds to look for recruits after suffering loses during a main push by Dregruk's forces. During the recruiting phase Durros caught Gryael's eye. If Durros would make it through training he wanted him nearby to watch the potential space marine.

Roughly a decade later Durros was assigned to the Dark Angels 6th Company. It didn't take long before he was moved into a regular line company.  Dregruk's forces were still a menace and the Dark Angels were taking losses. Newly assigned to 3rd Sqd 4th Co he was reacquainted with his recruiter. Interrogator Chaplain Gryael made sure 3rd Sqd saw plenty of action.
While on a back water planet during the campaign many civilians were relieved to once again see the Dark Angels visit there world. Orks had taken their toll on the world. Gryael was somewhat puzzled. He requested historical data for the last visit to this forsaken world. As he suspected the Dark Angels have never visited this world until now! "Fallen" Gryael whispered just load enough for the now Veteran Sergeant Durros to hear. "Sgt. Durros! Get your Squad and get as much information about the last Dark Angel detail that was on this planet. I want names, numbers, description, everything. Details are key Sgt. Durros! Do you understand?" Demanded Gryael "Aye, aye Sir!!" barked Durros.

After several days of information gathering it became clear the unit was on planet a few months ago. Some inhabitants heard of an asteroid base in a near by system. Upon Interrogator Chaplain Gryael's command they board the Thunder Hawk 'Prophets Blade' and headed to their strike cruiser waiting in orbit. Once upon 'Angels Vengeance' they prepared for the jump to the system in question. Chaplain Gryael debriefed Master Sheol and new orders were given. Chaos Heretics were to be extinguished during the operation.  This would be new to Sgt. Durros. For years he had been fighting the green skins. A change for him would be good.

Orbiting close to a moon near the asteroid belt with minimal systems running the 'Angels Vengeance' waited for their prey.  After ten terran days finally a ship was detected coming out of warp.  Its destination was heading directly into the beltway. Ninety minutes later the ship disappeared into a medium size asteroid now known as Omega646. Knowing where the hidden base was and searching the onboard data logs for valuable information none was found. Master Sheol knew whatever was stationed there was of no good. Sheol gave the order and prepared for attack. Master Sheol would bring the "Angels Vengeance' out from hiding. Master Kreed was instructed to fire two salvos of torpedoes with the second salvo firing a single boarding torpedo with a Deathwing squad at the ready. Master Sheol would also be aboard the torpedo. Kreed was also instructed to take out key command and control centers and disable any ships trying to flee the area. Two Thunderhawks would follow on the tails of the torpedoes unloading the battle brothers from within. One would be held in reserve while the last will make a flanking move and come in from the backside of the Omega646. The flanking Thunderhawk lead by Chaplain Gryael will command Squad Durros and Squad Daniel. Librarian Hamiel will mask Gryael's Thunderhawk from detection. That battle began with what Master Sheol expected. The first salvo of torpedoes were destroyed by system defenses. But with the second salvo so close behind and the diving Thunderhawks looming as well the torpedo's struck exploding and collapsing base infrastructure. The boarding party torpedo took a small amount of flak but its cargo remained unharmed and arriving near the landing bay as planed. Dismounting from the boarding torpedo Master Sheol and Squad Tobias moved forward to secure the landing bay. They encounter small resistance. With the battle well into T+2:35 Chaplain Gryael was still over a minute out.  Waiting for a report from the Thunderhawk pilot on auxiliary command and control or emergency escape launches.  At T+3:42 Brother Barone reports a small complex with activity. Chaplain Gryael gives the ready to Sgt Durros and Sgt Daniel. Brother Barone pulled back on the yolk and engaged the VTOL thrusters hovering just 3 meters above the pitted surface of the asteroid. Gryael was the first to jump, followed by Durros and the rest of his squad. Sgt Daniel's squad jumped from the portside hatch.
