Fortress of the Unforgiven Entry: A COMPANY OF RAVENS

Having won the LPC 2012 and with the imminent arrival of the sixth edition of 40K followed by the rumoured new Dark Angels Codex the Inner Circle decided to stimulate interest by challenging all the other foums in the B+C to a painting chllenge. The format would be different and would be spearheaded by Captain Semper, whose heroic efforts during the LPC 2012 not only pushed the dark ANgels forum to victory but also saw his elevation to the Inner Circle.
The main differences would be that it would be scored on points based on Codex and Forgeworld units and also that one would be able to pledge additional vows once the first is complete. The latter would encourage participants to progressively icnrease their contribution and also increase competitio as the event unfolds. The downside was that if even one of the subsequent vows was incomplete the participants entire vow was discounted.
I had a good think about what i shoudl do. Should i restart my stalled LPC2011 project Deathwing? However they were half painted and would not be eligible to participate. How about the LPC 2012 entry of dark Angels Scouts? Unfortunately the DA Scout Army was based on the Code Space Marines due to the restrictions of the DA Codex, hence I would not be able to pledge towards the DA Forum.
This however gave me the opportunity to perhaps commence a long stalled project. In late 2002, nearly ten years ago, while I was in Birmingham, I arranged for a commission job to have the entire Ravenwing Company to be painted for me. A friend in the B+C was having financial troubles across the seas and it felt like a good thing to do to give him the commission. I paid upfront to help the person, which included the cost for buying the models as well as painting them and posting them. Sad to say i have yet to receive a single model. I wrote it off as a gift to an ex-friend in his time of need and swore that i would complete it myself. Then came the release of the Ravenwing Box set and iw a sin business. So it's now time to unravel the packages and get to work.
I decided to start with two Ravenwing Attack Squadrons. Here they are ready for undercoating and for the ETL 2012 vow.

Phase 2: Undercoat
A good liberal spray of black udnercoat spray and my vow is 50% complete!!! I plan to paint the components with Boltgun metal and badab black wash for the metalics, the whites for the RW insignia and green for hand weapons casings individually before putting them together.
Phase 3: Operation urgent Painting
Having started off ambitiously the demon called Real Life hit me very hard and from the 11th of June to the first week of August no work was done except in my mind, where I kept working out speed painting sequences to be put in place. two days of intense painting in the little time I had along with a decision to keep the dark and brooding nature of the Ravenwing intact resulted in the following completion.
