The Vengeancewing - Darksword is a two part strike force posted to the Zion subsector on the egde of the galactic arm in the central obscurus. Zion is an eldar and chaos infestested backwater subsector, but it was here that the 3000 year old veteran force "The Interregnum Darksword" returned to realspace after millennia of drifting lost in the wake of the last great trans-obscurus warpstorm. |

They made contact with the Vengeancewing purified division Grandmaster Zebulon, who arrived at Zion Prime with his expeditionary strike force of elite veterans, tactical units, heavy support and aircavalry to aid the Darksword in it's hunt for any of its warp scattered brethren as well as re-establish imperial will in the sector. Zion is also strategically significant for the imperium with the return of Abaddon and his thirteenth crusade as chaos forces have ridden in the wake of warpstorms deeper in to the sector. Spacemarines of the Spacewolves chapter whoarrived in to a huge Zion first lost the entire medieval industrial world of Kerrang to a massive force traitors belonging to the Emperor's Children legion, said to have been accompanied by the arch-heretic Cypher himself. The forces of the Dark ANgels responded within a heart beat but in the confused conflict in the subsector more than ten major engagements were fought. Old rivalries and tensions re-emerged between the Spacewolves and the Dark Angel forces and on numerous occasions out right battles were only avoided by the timely interventions of the commanding officers. |
The lost legions of of the Interregnum Darksword recovered by the vengeancewing after drifting in stasis, lost in the warp for 3000 years. Chapter high command cleared all of any possible warp taint. All except one..... |
Fallen Darksword Librarian Aetherion was separated from the Darksword ship in the warp in his own cryo-capsule (thus his pallor) and would have fallen on to Zion during the warpstorm long before his brothers. An ancient Dark Angels record suggests that Aetherion might have led an uprising on Zion Prime just before its encounter with the warp storms, and that the rest of the force fought him there. Then all fled in to space as thee warp storms hit. Sources conclusively confirmed Aetherion was somewhere along the Zion fringeworlds, hiding out amongst eldar sympathizer colonists, pirates and other minor deviants. |
