Millennia after millennia passed since that event, and the Dark Angel grew stronger in their vengeful hatred. Of their numbers, one member of the Dark Angel Inner Order distinguished himself alongside his brother. He was Jeremiah, a proud and loyal servant of the Emperor. Jeremiah was recruited from his jungle planet alongside his older brother, Barnabas. The two brothers showed outstanding potentials, and were quickly recruited into the ranks of Space Marines. Both survived their imitations, and both earned their honor in serving the Dark Angels in their holy cause. The two later became esteemed members of the famed order of the Deathwing terminators. After constant battles, Jeremiah and Barnabas began competing amongst themselves. This rivalry began as a simple sibling dispute, but grew slowly in the fuel of jealousy. It was not until the battle of Prexis Prime that this ember of evil sparked the flames of betrayal.
After the absolute victory in the conquest for Prexis, Jeremiah was promoted to rank of Master and given control of a Dark Angel task force. Barnabas, seeing his little brother promoted to such an honored rank, did not feel any pride for his brother, but rather jealousy and hatred. Jeremiah was his younger brother, and should not, in any way, outshine him in glory and honor. The elder brother gathered his most trusted men, and began scheming. It was finally during the invasion of the desert planet of Cantalis 5 that Barnabas revealed his true nature. Jeremiah and his troops pursued the last remnant force of a traitor Guardsmen regiment whom they defeated earlier. Instead of reaching the Guardsmen, Jeremiah founded Barnabas and his squad patrolling the dunes. Jeremiah put down his guard and came to greet his brother. That would have proved to be a fatal mistake. Barnabas and his squad open fired on the unsuspecting Master. As Jeremiah's men saw the body of their leader fall into the sands, they attacked Barnabas with bitter vengeance. As cruel fate would have it, the traitor Guardsmen they were tracking suddenly appeared from all around them, and ambushed the Dark Angel forces. The battle wiped out the Dark Angels, and no survivor had managed to escape. At least, none but one
As the traitors left, Barnabas approached Jeremiah's body and spat on his brother's face. Leaving the corpse of his brother lying in the dunes, he disappeared from the Dark Angels, presumed dead. After hours of lying in the sand, Jeremiah slowly began to wake up, and began to crawl. He was a bloody mess, but some divine power, whether it was the Emperor's will or the thirst for revenge, kept him alive and crawling. After nearly a week in the dunes, a Dark Angel scout patrol founded Jeremiah lying in the sand, dehydrated and nearly dead. They took him back to the landing zone, where he was taken back to the Rock for debriefing and healing. After recovering from his wounds, Master Jeremiah approached the Inner Order and requested the formation of a new successor chapter from the Dark Angels for the purpose of "upholding peace while the Dark Angels concentrated on the Fallen". Months of debate eventually led to the authorization of the creation of a new chapter, the Angels of Genesis.
Jeremiah, Grandmaster of the Inner Order, was given the title of Chapter Master to the fledgling chapter. As the chapter grew stronger, Jeremiah grew wiser, and began to understand the Unforgiven's task of hunting the Fallen. Also, he had learned of why the Dark Angels had kept their curse a secret from the others. He had felt betrayal first-handed, not just from his men, but from his own brother whom he loved and trust. For this very reason, he kept his own agenda secret, even from the Dark Angels themselves. With a loyal chapter in his control, Jeremiah seeks retribution for him and his fellow comrades, all in the secrecy that enveloped the chapter. |
Background and Origin:
"And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?" Genesis 5:9
The history of the Angels of Genesis is shrouded in the same mystery that surrounds the Dark Angel chapter and their successors. Being an offshoot of the famous Dark Angels, the Angels of Genesis are of the Second Founding; although they were create after the formation of the first three Dark Angel successor chapters. The tale of the Angels of Genesis is one of shame, hate, and betrayal. A story that is almost as shameful as that of the Dark Angel's past.
After the Horus Heresy, the Dark Angel faced a horrendous betrayal. When their fellow brethrens on Caliban betrayed their own kin, the mighty forces of the loyal space marines descended upon their home world with vengeance and fury. Like furious angels, they descended upon their former comrades with steel and fire. The battle all but destroyed the Dark Angels, leaving their precious home world of Caliban destroyed, and casting their former brethrens upon the winds of the Warp. The scars of that betrayal would not yet heal, and to the Dark Angels, the only chance of redeeming themselves would be to track down their former marines, the Fallens, and make them repent for their sins. |

Home World:
The Angels of Genesis were based on the desert world of Cantalis 5, where Jeremiah was betrayed. From the desert dwelling population (the Bedouins), the Angels of Genesis recruits the strongest and fittest, for whom the endless sands and dunes have not already claimed their lives. On the North Pole of Cantalis 5, the Angels of Genesis built a massive fortress of stone on the ruins of a former city ravaged by a sand storm. From this bastion of stone, the Angels of Genesis observe the population for the best and fittest recruits.
Chapter Structure:
The chapter structure of the Angels of Genesis is nearly identical to that of the Dark Angels. The first and second companies are dedicated to the training of Terminators and Biker/Speeder units in honor the Deathwing and Ravenwing. However, as Biker/Speeders goes, the Angels of Genesis adopted the use of tri-wheeled dune buggies, and sand bikes. Still a small chapter, the Angels of Genesis only has 7 company in total, with the first two being specialized, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th being tactical squads, and the 6th and 7th are specialized in Fast-Attack and Heavy Support. All companies have at least one squad of Dragon Riders, marine specialized in riding the large Cantalis Sand Dragons.

Of all the heroes of the Angel of Genesis, none is more renowned then Chapter Master Jeremiah himself. Fighting for centuries under the banner of the Emperor and the Lion, Jeremiah has earned his reputation as a dedicated leader and a noble warrior. Yet, despite all this, his secret stains his honor. Having his own brother betray him and join Chaos, Jeremiah has been driven to the one goal of finding Barnabas and the other Fallen, and bringing righteous justice to them. Jeremiah carries with him the shimmering "Trinity", a holy sword that legends say was blessed by the Emperor himself, and that can rend even the unholy hide of a daemon.
Librarian Vindicus is also an honored member of the Angels of Genesis. Vindicus was rendered blind during a duel with a Chaos sorcerer. While trying to summon up his psychic powers, the dastardly sorcerer unleashes a massive psychic bolt directly at Vindicus's head. The Librarian, caught off guard, was smashed to the ground. When he awoke, blood was pouring from his eye sockets, his eyes disintegrated. When the Apothecary offered to give him bionic eyes, Vindicus refused. For days, he prayed in the monastery's altar, until a strange thing happened to him. Through his bandages, he could see the altar. If he concentrated enough of his psychic powers, he could see the psychic essence of objects and living things. Knowing it was a blessing, Vindicus tore the bandages off of his face, and ripped a piece of cloth from the altar cloth, making a holy blindfold for himself. Decades passed, and Vindicus continued to serve the chapter with no less zeal and loyalty then before. |
