Here within lies the story and Organisation of a goodly portion of the 1st Company of the Dark Angels, the rightly feared Deathwing, as they were when Grand Master Nareed led them in the Campaign on Kurast IX against the enemies of humanity. The Kurast campaign was undertaken when Nareed was in the 80th year of his command of the Deathwing. A great host of Orks had invaded the planet and the Dark Angels Chapter were the only members of the Index Astartes that were close enough to lend forces to the small regiment of Imperial guard that were being overrun. Such were the numbers of Orks that nearly the whole Chapter was needed to repel the green tide. Integral to the success of this campaign was the 1st Company. Attacking in both small assault orientated strike forces as well in the final attack on the mountain stronghold of the War boss Irdrak Spine Snapper where the entire Deathwing contingent attacked enemas. Using Land raiders and teleporting into the Stronghold itself. The following Shows the Deathwing contingent of the Dark Angel force that took part in the action on Kurast. |
Grand Master Nareed, Librarian Tancred & their Command Squads Pictured here with his command Squad and the Land Raider (Crusader Pattern) Redemptor. Nareed had been in command of the 1st Company for 80 years when the campaign had begun. Honoured to be armed with the Blade of Atonement he along with his honour guard (led by Brother Baltzar) have taken the might and fury of the Emperor's wrath to mankind's enemies on countless occasions. Pictured here is Nareed with the Techmarine Brother Idesta and Standard Bearer Galen. Tancred has served the Chapter now for over five centuries. He is ferocious in Close combat, his massive Force Axe bringing even the mightiest of foes crashing to their knees. |
The Ancients These Dreadnoughts have been in the service of the Chapter for millennia. Antiquitus is believed to be one of the first Dark Angels to be interred in the adamantinum and Ceramite shell though so old is he that such memories have become vague over the ages. Both Antiquitus and Aodh have fought alongside the Deathwing on a number of occasions. |
Aodh was a member of the Deathwing when he suffered mortal wounds during a boarding action on the Space Hulk Lights Lament fighting against stealers. The squads heavy weapons member he held out till reinforcements arrived after his squad was ambushed by pure strains guarding what was later identified as a Patriarch stealer. Had it not been for the fire laid down by his assault cannon it is likely that the mission may have failed. Dreadnought Cearbhal normally fights alongside the 3rd Company but was assigned to the 1st company for the final assault on the mountain stronghold. |
