ORGANIZATION Occasionally, when the need for a completely mobile and armoured formation to achieve a rapid break-through, flanking maneuvre or counter attack is required resevre formations of armoured vehicles and spare vehicles from battle companies had been put under a single command for short periods. Subsequently such ideas were formalised and a small command group formed, which could rapidly absorb battle field mobile formations in a powerful armoured gauntlet to achieve the necessary objectives.
Since the vast majority of armoured vehicles were maintained in the chapter's armoury and assigned to battle forces as required, the Grandmaster of the Forge was assigned to create this command group and the necessary tactics and logistics. Thus formed was the ironwing, which unlike other companies does not have a standing complement of troops or vehicles, but a logistical and command organisation which can quickly create an immensely powerful mobile strike force. This list assumes the occasional situation where such a large detachment containing it's own generic command structure or even the whole company might be deployed during large campaigns. It is based on the Dark Angels Codex, but can be adapted towards C:SM by simply altering the point values of characters. In game terms this list is aimed at those playing "Big Fun Games" of 5,000 points or more, preferably 10,000 + points, where a detachment from the Ironwing Battle Group may join other standard forces.
You may field an army using this list, and equip characters from the 10th Company Armoury. Characters can have up to two single-handed weapons or a single-handed weapon and a two-handed weapon. You may also pick 100 points of wargear per model but no model may be given the same item twice. All wargear and weapons must be represented on the model. Items marked with "©" can be taken by independent characters only. |
