Member of the Inner Circle
This entire section is one attempt to describe the long history of the Dark Angels in a linear form. Every known piece of history and event based on GW publications has been written in my own words and linked together in a reasonably plausible manner by additional fiction. This is in no way the official GW version nor is it in anyway an attempt to infringe on their IP. There are many versions of imperial history buried within the sands of time and this is but just one of them. Read on if you dare!

The sixth level is an important level within the Deathwing as it signifies eligibility to join the famed Deathwing company.

Admission criteria and process

Once a Dark Angel has been accepted within the ranks of the Deathwing, he is constantly mentored and tutored by his own individual teacher in the form of an interrogator-chaplain. This mentor not only acts as a teacher but also as an examiner who constantly tests his pupil, assessing his eligibility towards progression within the ranks of the Deathwing. On completion of his training to wear the venered TDA, and the completion of other pre-requisites, the spacemarine is advanced to the next level, the Arcanum Sextus.

Knowledge

The knowledge these members have about their chapter remains the same, though they are allowed to study them in more depth. The focus of their study is directed at the intricacies of their tactical dreadnought armour.

Eligibility

Entry in to the sixth level brings with it a number of opportunities to the veteran Dark Angel. He becomes officially qualified to join the first company, the famed Deathwing company. The admission to the first company depends on a number of factors. First and foremost amongst this would be the presence of a vacancy within the twenty Deathwing squads. Tradition dictates that once a squad is formed it remains unchanged until it's battle brothers are incapacitated due to battle injury, age or death. Only when such a place becomes available would the new inductee be chosen to take his place within the company. Until such time, these battle brothers will continue to serve their chapter as members of their own, original companies. Their acceptance in to the sixth level marked by the terminator honours that they wear.

Members of the sixth level of the Arcana Surreptius, remain incognito, but are otherwise have exactly the same eligibilities as their brethren in the Arcana Fidelis. Occasionally battle brothers of both lineages will elect to remain with their own companies and carry out their duties there rather than enter the more flamboyant first company.

Training and Deployment

Once accepted in to the sixth level, the inductee is considered to be proficient in the use of TDA. However, whether they remain in their original companies or they join the first company, they constantly train in their TDA. These Dark Angels become extremely adept at using the TDA in a variety of environments.

All line members of the Deathwing Company belong to level six of the Arcana Fidelis. Since at the time of admission most of these men are already veteran sergeants, the Deathwing company is made up of highly proficient leaders. To be a squad leader within this highly qualified and battle tested force, requires command qualities and battle experience of the highest order.
